Parenting with Anxiety

Problem

Researchers needed a way to deliver a modular psychological intervention to parents with anxiety, as part of a randomised controlled trial studying whether the intervention could reduce the likelihood of anxiety being passed on to their children. The platform needed to support participant randomisation, track progress through modules, and collect outcome data securely.

Approach

I built the intervention on Moodle, extending it with a custom RCT framework in PHP to handle participant randomisation, conditional module access, and data collection. The framework managed group allocation, ensured blinding where required, maintained GDPR compliance, and tracked completion rates across the study.

Outcome

The study was completed successfully and published as a peer-reviewed paper. The intervention showed effectiveness as an unguided modular online tool for reducing anxiety transmission from parent to child.
